Send the plan set. The concrete, the rebar, and the block and grout are counted on your own drawing, and you get a private link and a quantities CSV by email. Free, no account.

The quantities size the job, and the safety plan with it: how many trucks back up to the pump, how many bar ends need caps, how much joint the saw cuts.

Send Your Plan Set

One file per takeoff. No account, only an email address for the start link and the results.

What to send

  • One vector PDF of the plan set, exported from CAD (not a scan). Or a DWG or DXF, zipped with its xrefs.
  • Several files or a whole folder? Zip them into one file first (Windows: right-click, Send to, Compressed folder. Mac: right-click, Compress). Drawings and xrefs only.
  • Include the foundation plan, sections and details, and the general notes and schedules.
  • Up to 100 MB and 40 sheets.
  • Scanned sets or photos take longer to work through, and we may ask you for a vector PDF instead.

Most takeoffs are ready within a few hours.

The start link and your takeoff go to this address.

Turnaround

Most takeoffs are ready within a few hours. When we're busy, it can take up to 24 hours.

After You Send It

  1. 1.Check your inbox and click the start link. Nothing runs before that click.
  2. 2.We run the takeoff on your set.
  3. 3.A second email brings your private link and the CSV.

The takeoff runs on Concrete Mix AI, our sister product for plan quantities. Its privacy page covers your upload.

What Comes Back

Every takeoff includes:

  • A private link to your takeoff. Your plan with each counted item in color, the numbers in plain words, how each one was worked out, the questions for your engineer, and the job built up in 3D and in construction order.
  • A quantities CSV. Open it in a spreadsheet, or bring it into your own estimate and pour plan.

Open the sample takeoff to see what a finished one looks like.

What It Does Well

  • Concrete, rebar and masonry quantities from real plan files.
  • Footings, pads, slabs, walls and culverts, plus the rebar from your bar lists and schedules.
  • Each number is shown on your drawing, with the math behind it.
  • Where the schedule, the drawings and the specs disagree, you get a question for your engineer.
  • Block and grout counts are included. Check them against your wall layout.

What It Needs From You, Or Does Not Do Yet

  • Earthwork needs your survey or cross sections.
  • Send the whole set. Missing sheets or references mean missing quantities.
  • Quantities only, no prices.
  • Not for MEP or finishes.
  • Scans and photos take longer, and we may ask you for a vector PDF instead.

Estimate only. Verify before ordering.

Plan The Pour Safely

On the sample job the takeoff counted 82.0 CY to order in nine trucks, 59 dowels standing up out of the footing and 412 LF of saw-cut joints. That is nine trucks backing up to the pump, 59 bar ends to guard and a silica plan for the saw.

Walk your own job through our concrete pour safety checklist, in build order, with the OSHA rule next to each check.

Osha Ask reviews job site video and photos and checks what it sees against OSHA requirements. It flags hazards and missing safety measures, each with the OSHA requirement it relates to, so your safety team can act on them sooner.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it free? Do I need an account?

It is free, and there is no account, sign-up or login. Send a plan set and your email address so we can send the start link and your takeoff.

What do I get back?

A private link to your takeoff: your plan with each counted item in color, the numbers in plain words, how each was worked out, the questions for your engineer, and the job built up in 3D and in construction order. You also get a quantities CSV.

How long does it take?

Most takeoffs are ready within a few hours. When we're busy, it can take up to 24 hours.

Which files work?

A vector PDF of the whole plan set, with the drawings, general notes and specs, exported from your CAD or design software. Or DWG or DXF files with their xrefs. If you have several files or a whole folder, zip them into one file first. Drawings and xrefs only. Up to 100 MB and 40 sheets. Scanned sets or photos take longer to work through, and we may ask you for a vector PDF instead.

All I have is a scan. Can you still do it?

Once a day, as a courtesy. A scanned set takes longer to work through, and we may ask you for a vector PDF instead.

What does it cover?

Concrete, rebar and CMU, from real plan files: footings, pads, slabs, walls and culverts, plus the rebar from your bar lists and schedules. Block and grout counts are included; check them against your wall layout. Earthwork needs your survey or cross sections. Not for MEP or finishes.

Does it price the job?

No. You get quantities, not prices.

How many free takeoffs can I get?

One free takeoff per email per day: the next one opens 24 hours after your last confirmed takeoff. A company email domain gets up to three a day across all its addresses; a personal address such as Gmail counts on its own.

Who runs the takeoff?

Concrete Mix AI, our sister product for plan quantities, runs the takeoff for Osha Ask. Its privacy page covers your upload.

What happens to my drawings?

They are used only to prepare your takeoff and email you about it, and deleted 30 days after the takeoff is delivered. Your takeoff link uses a long random ID and is kept out of search engines; anyone you share it with can open it. To have everything deleted sooner, email contact@oshaask.com.
